Intro to visual communications

Bristol Board, 10”x10″

Assignment: Design a logo, experiment with repeating lines, create motion using sequence and progression. Vary the line weight, creating contrast. Describe the speed and how the eye will move around the design. Did your line quality engage the viewer emotionally?

In the logo that I designed, I used repeating lines. Doing this in the logo created motion. By using thin lines I caused a complex motion.  This causes the eye to move the slowest and quietest.  In addition, I varied the line weight by making the lines of the T short while the top part of the T was large and similar to an arch.

With these letters, I applied contrast. The drawing has a contrast of small and large sizes, which creates a certain amount of noise. The shape and size of the words in the symbol creates a motion that allows your eyes to follow.
